    Introduction

Money laundering prevention in legal engagements

You learn to establish the actual legal service first and to check how it falls within the list of activities in section 2(1), no. 10 GwG, using the original text. You then identify the client, the representative and the other parties involved.

What you work on at this level

    1. Activity and obliged entity status

You compare brief descriptions of instructions involving litigation, corporate advice and business acquisitions. Using the statutory list of activities, you record which factual information is missing for classification and why a professional title alone does not replace the specific assessment.

    2. The client and the parties involved

You work with a fictional engagement agreement, a power of attorney and a register extract. You distinguish the client, the person acting and the beneficial owner, and organise the initial questions about collecting and verifying information.

    3. Confidentiality and orderly disclosure

You distinguish the assessment of obliged entity status from questions of legal professional confidentiality and a possible reporting obligation. A simple law firm example shows which points require internal clarification and how information and outstanding questions can be recorded clearly.

    Your learning goals

    • Classify the specific engagement using the GwG list of activities.
    • Distinguish the client, the representative and the beneficial owner in the example.
    • Distinguish information collected from information verified in the file.
    • Recognise confidentiality and reporting issues as separate assessment points.
    YOUR EXERCISE

You complete an intake form, identify missing documents and formulate factual questions for the fictional client, together with a point requiring internal clarification.

    YOUR CONCRETE OUTPUT

An organised engagement intake form with a classification of the activity, an overview of the parties and a list of information still needed. After completing the training, you receive a participation certificate and a participation Badge for your sector and level.

    OPTIONAL EXTRA · FINAL ASSESSMENT

Would you like your learning achievement assessed?

The final examination is optional and takes place online. One attempt and one retake are included in the course price. Examination time is additional to learning time.

Currently selected: course without an additional final assessment.

Optional assessment: knowledge questions and a short independent legal engagement case

You work on a new description of an engagement and explain the classification of the activity, the information required and the next internal step.

    What matters in your response
    • List of activities examined case-by-case
    • Clearly distinguish the roles of the parties
    • Identify information gaps and responsibilities
    Your exam certificate

After passing the optional assessment, you receive a record of achievement for this level explicitly identified as an assessment credential.

How this relates to your daily work

The sequence you develop supports the preparation of new engagements and clear follow-up questions within the law firm. You also recognise which information is not substantiated by a file note alone.

Professional reference points and official sources

The linked provisions and official interpretative guidance provide the reference points for the training programme. The course uses the legal provisions applicable at the relevant date of assessment.

Your completion is clearly documented. Confirmed learning units receive their own credentials. For completing a course level, you receive a participation certificate and a sector badge labelled accordingly. If you also pass the optional assessment, this achievement is expressly confirmed in the assessment certificate and badge. The KI Akademie credentials are included in the respective course scope.

The credential ID or verification link opens the issued record, showing the issuer, learning achievement, date and current status.

The issuer’s register entry is authoritative. The image alone does not confirm a learning achievement.

What does your digital badge offer you?

Your badge shows what you have studied and which learning level you have reached. Together with your personal certificate, it helps you present your professional development clearly and identify it later.

    Recognise your progress

The training series, sector and one to five stars show your learning path. This helps you identify completed levels and choose your next learning step.

Show professional development in your career profile

You can use your earned badge in your CV, portfolio or LinkedIn profile, for example. Add the corresponding personal certificate so that the content of your training is clear.

Document the content of your training

The personal certificate names the confirmed learning unit, the training series and the date. It explicitly shows whether your participation or a passed examination is documented. The badge helps you recognise this record quickly.

The stars indicate the learning level. Your personal certificate states which achievement has been confirmed. An additional examination fee does not automatically result in a higher badge.

Our attendance and examination credentials have no expiry date. They document completion on the stated date. Access to the course is separately limited to twelve months.

FROM A LEARNING UNIT TO A COMPLETED LEVEL

As your progress grows, your credentials grow with it.

Each confirmed unit is recognised individually. Once you have completed all the required components of a learning level, you also receive the certificate and badge for the completed level.

    Verify a certificate or badge
When do I receive a credential?

Once the relevant learning unit has been completed and confirmed in accordance with its requirements. The credential expressly states whether it records participation, a completed exercise or a passed assessment. Simply opening a page does not count as completion.

What do the stars stand for?

One to five stars identify the five learning levels in the relevant course series. The wording on the credential also shows whether it documents a learning unit or the complete level. The stars do not count clicks or individual exercise answers.

Do the certificate and badge cost extra?

No. Both credentials for the confirmed learning units and the completed level are included in the respective course.

What information is visible during the check?

Verification displays the information released for this credential, in particular the issuer, course series, confirmed achievement, date of issue and status. Personal contact details and your exercise answers are not published.
